It's my season. The season where I feel at peace as the weather gets cooler. The season where I anticipate falling leaves, hearty meals, warm drinks, and eventually the first snowfall. I could write a million posts on my favorite fall activities to feel cozy, but we'll just start with a few.
1. Burn Candles
Pick inviting and warm scents, such as pumpkin or apple during this season. The candle light will help make the shorter, darker days a little brighter.
2. Wear Cozy Clothes
Whatever it looks like to you, it's cozy season. Grab oversized sweaters and jeans and fuzzy socks or a comfy hoodie and sweatpants. Let your body breathe.
3. Make a Simmer Pot
My mom had the best simmer pot growing up. It was a tradition in our home around the holidays. It screams nostaglia and warmth.
4. Cozy Up Your Home
When decorating your home for winter and fall, opt for warmer, cozier fabrics like chucky knits or sherpa.
5. Get Outside and Hike
One of my favorite fall activities is to hike. Look for local trails or venture somewhere new. We have a trail we frequent in the fall near our home, a state park in our town we love to visit, and this year, we've taken a few hiking trips to the U.P.!
6. Bake a Fall Dessert
This time of year is full of wonderful flavors - pumpkin and apple pies, pecan treats .... find a new recipe or ask a relative for an heirloom recipe to master.
7. Enjoy a warm drink
Whether is a hot cup of tea, rich hot cocoa, or a seasonal drink from a coffee shop, this time of year is perfect to pair with your favorite relaxing activities.
8. Practice Slow Living Techniques
Give yourself permission to slow down this fall. You can spend time in prayer each day, get up and watch the sunrise in peace, read, write, or color, or even take a nap!
